Halloween Port Angeles 2013

Greetings ghouls and gals!  Every year, the downtown Port Angeles merchants pause their normal day to day activities to pass out candy to all the trick or treaters downtown.  Thousands come downtown to trick or treat in the safe and familiar downtown stores.  This year Anime Kat gave out almost 2,200 pieces of candy and Magic: the Gathering cards (we track how much candy we give out).  We want to thank all of the kids and parents who stopped by our store for candy and a thank you to the fellow businesses to gave out candy.  Happy Halloween to all!

Halloween Party 2013 at Anime Kat

You can never have too much health or mana

You can never have too much health or mana

This year we hosted the 4th Annual Halloween Party at Anime Kat on the Saturday before Halloween.  Every year, we try to put on an event were our friends can enjoy a little time in the store playing games, sitting in costumes, listening to music, and enjoying snacks.  We had a few extra activities this year including a costume contest, a raffle, and a coloring contest.

Cliff won this year’s raffle contest.  He won an Anime Kat Promotional Bag with Magic: the Gathering promo decks, Kaijudo: Rise of the Duel Master promo decks, volume 1 of a couple different manga, and disc 1 of a Korean Drama all in a little canvas bag.

We also had our first ever coloring contest.  Participants could color in pictures of Planeswalkers for a chance to win Free entry into a standard or modern format Friday Night Magic of their choice.  It was very hard for us to pick our favorite picture.  Special congratulations to Will and Dalton who decide to instead color a My Little Pony and Faye Valentine picture respectively as a way to swing my vote.  Sadly for them the rules specified Planeswalker.  And with that, I’m pleased to announce Larry as our winner of our first ever coloring contest.  Check the store out soon; all of the pictures will be hanging up.

Lastly, we had our annual costume contest.  Jessi was this year’s winner with her “Baby Under Construction” costume.  She won a 30 Day Rental Pass.

Breimh’s Anime Review: The Pet Girl of Sakurasoa

By Breimh

One day, Mashiro Shiina, a cute, innocent girl who’s also a world-famous artist, moves into the dorm. Sorata thought he needed to protect Mashiro from the strange people living in the dorm, but she had her own incredible secret—she’s bankrupt of the ability to live on her own! She gets lost whenever she goes outside, her room is a constant mess, and she can’t even pick out her own underwear, let alone put them on.

Sorata winds up appointed as her “owner” by the other dorm students, and so the “master and pet” life between average boy, Sorata, and brilliant girl Mashiro begins…?

This story is a romantic comedy of youth tells of a brilliant girl, an average man, and other eccentric people they are sharing college living space with.

Impeccably balanced with humor, this touching story of friendships and romance while working toward the final push toward adult-life gives all that emotional drive a true direction. I would recommend this to anyone who might ask where to start, or where to go next, in their choices of what anime to watch. And afterward, I would have to ask, “What color?”
